Attribute Set Homogenization: Early vs. Late by Andreas Paepcke. Created on 10/13/95; last updated on 10/19/1995.
( I put up the strawman that when we import data, we should import the corresponding attribute sets in all their diversity, rather than homogenizing attribute sets during import. Our internal dbs would be mixtures of many attribute sets. Then, each application using the internal dbs would include declarations of how attribute set differences should be resolved for *them*. An underlying engine would accomplish the processing of these declarations. I sketch the proposition that InterBib is one full example of this approach. An appendix shows examples of my simple-probably-not-quite-complete notation. ) Access to this report is restricted to project participants.
